How to Transfer Your LEI to GoGetSSL
-
An LEI transfer moves the management of your LEI from your current provider to GoGetSSL. Your LEI code and company data stay exactly the same. The transfer is free, and any days you've already paid for are kept.

What an LEI Transfer Changes
Every LEI is managed by one GLEIF-accredited Local Operating Unit (LOU). That LOU is responsible for keeping the record accurate and is the only one that can renew it. A transfer changes only this managing LOU. The LEI code, its registration history, and your reference data don't change.
This is why an LEI held elsewhere can't simply be renewed with GoGetSSL. It has to be transferred first. After that, all future renewals are handled through your GoGetSSL account.
You can find out who manages your LEI right now by looking it up in the Global LEI Index and checking the Managing LOU field.

How Much a Transfer Costs
Transferring an LEI is free of charge, and you can request it at any time. The days remaining on your current registration carry over, so you aren't charged again for time you've already paid to your previous provider. The order you place covers your next year of registration, which starts only when the current period ends.
Tip: Every LEI transfer to GoGetSSL comes with a free 1-year GoGetSSL Domain SSL certificate. When you renew the transferred LEI, you get a free Domain or Extended Validation SSL certificate. EV SSL is available with the PRO plan only.

Letter of Authorization
Every transfer from another LOU requires a Letter of Authorization (LoA). After you place the order, download the LoA form (PDF) from the order page, fill in your company details, sign it, and upload it on the same page. The signed LoA goes to your current LOU together with the transfer request and shows that your company has agreed to move its LEI.
Make sure the details you enter match your LEI record exactly, including the legal name and LEI code.
Important: Your current LOU can refuse the transfer if the LoA doesn't match the LEI record, or if it has been told by someone at your company that the LEI shouldn't be transferred. Check with anyone else who manages your LEI before you start.

How Long a Transfer Takes
As soon as you submit the request, it's sent automatically to your current LOU. Under GLEIF rules, that LOU has up to 7 days to act on it, so the timing depends mostly on how quickly they respond.
Tip: If your renewal date is close, start the transfer at least a week in advance. This gives your current LOU enough time to process it before your LEI lapses.

After the Transfer
Once the transfer is complete, the Managing LOU field in the Global LEI Index will show the new LOU, and your LEI will appear in your GoGetSSL account. Renewals and any updates to your company data are handled there from then on.
